The coming storm, the clearing skies

We are familiar with the trope of the ominous skies which undercut a display of cosy domesticity. This couple, this young family, making their small plans. Everything ordinarily cosy - mundane even. Until a shot of darkly, looming clouds whispers that their plans - that all our plans - are for nothing. That our future is filled with peril and to relax for even a moment is an act of foolishness and hubris.

But does it work the other way? A young man, filled with a sense of unaccountable foreboding, hesitates before leaving, returns to his beautiful wife and hugs her tightly, tears in his eyes. Will this be the last time he sees her? But then we cut to an external shot and see the last clouds disappearing to leave reassuringly clear skies and the realisation that the young man’s fears and, by extension, ALL our fears are groundless and that all is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.
