Waiting...

We're still waiting...figuratively and literally sticking our fingers in the air to find the wind direction. The smoke is hanging in an unhealthy pall over everything.  We don't need an app on our phone to tell us that.it is very unhealthy. Dana texts that she went for a walk with a mask and a firefighter lady told her to go home....a red flag alert has been extended through October 6th. Dana took this picture yesterday of a helicopter dumping water from Spring Lake on the hills and fields around us.

Dana's neighbor, a retired firefighter, said he thought the firefighters who saved our house were his old crew from Sonoma. He knew they were in our area. They couldn't  save all the the houses, but took a stand on one. Dana thought it was an eerie coincidence. We think it was a miracle.

We can't quite rest yet as the hot, dry weather conditions increase and changes in the wind direction are predicted.

I just am not able to concentrate enough on all your comments and messages to answer them right now but I am reading every single one of them (sometimes in the middle of the night). We are grateful to be here with Dan and Tobi, and to know that every effort is being made to conquer this terrible fire. It is really not possible to think much beyond that right now.
