West to Kintyre

I knew the day was going to be good when I looked out the kitchen window and saw a red squirrel a few feet away. Of course it had gone by the time I found my camera.

We set off down the hill and saw the valley flooded below (top left). However it was a fine drive and though the M8 was busy we made good time and got over the Rest and Be Thankful (middle left) where we had our lunch stop. The road is being fixed after landslips. It was glorious sunshine around Loch Fyne. (Bottom middle and right) Scotland in glorious autumn colours.

The last 14 miles was narrow single track with passing places (bottom
Left) to Loch Ban where we are camped by the little beach overlooking Islay and Jura. (Top middle and right) We haven’t been down this road before as we were on a main road to get to the Islay ferry a few years ago. Unfortunately the forecast isn’t very auspicious for our time year. We’d better have a wee walk after sitting in the van all day.
