Devil's Beef Tub

Driving down to the Lakes. I took the scenic route and stopped at this spot just outside Moffat. It is a 150m deep hollow. The unusual name derives from its use to hide stolen cattle by the Border Reivers of the Johnstone clan who were referred to by their enemies as "devils".

The plaque had information about Robert the Bruce rather than the geological feature
