One down, three to go
I was so glad I had done all the prep yesterday and have plenty of bowls in the house. The huge bowl - perched on top of the kettle - is the only one big enough to take all the ingredients. It emerges every year at this time and then disappears into the cupboard for 12 months. My lovely Mason Cash bowl has served me well for 50 years. My dear mother in law bought every conceivable household item for our "bottom drawer" when we announced our engagement. We were both very grateful as we had no money! I donned the festive apron as hubby decided he would like to do the honours for Blip today. The transfer to the oven was somewhat delayed as we had a call to say Mammy's car was in for service and could we take Louie to football? Of course we could. Grandad was in his element. The aroma of festive cake is wafting round the house. I decided last year's cakes were a bit small so I made one huge cake today with several kgs of fruit and also made a small tester which will no doubt be eaten as soon as it comes out of the oven!
