In Honor of 'The Debate Fly'

Today I'm honoring Flies. I was fortunate enough to come across these two at the DogPark. The top one is a 'Bee Fly'. They are true flies, not bees! Adult Bee Flies feed on nectar and pollen and are important pollinators! Seeing this Bee Fly was a first for me! The tiny beauty on the bottom is a 'Dusky-winged Hoverfly. Adults feed mainly on nectar and pollen while their larval stage (maggots) eat a variety of foods, some eat dead and decaying plant and animal matter while others prey on other insects, usually the plant-sucking kind. So please bee kind to flies!
