River Greta

It's hard to imagine this river causing the devastation it did in storm Desmond.
In the morning we went for a walk along the old railway as far as we could, it's still being worked on after the storm damage and the decision to re-open the tunnel. The bit that's been done has been tarmaced hard on the feet and a potential accident blackspot after frost, it will also encourage cyclists to go too fast and endanger pedestrians.
We returned along the river and met the Red Admiral in the extras.
In the afternoon we took Mum to the opticians and walked to Portinscale whilst she was seen. A view  of the Newlands fells is in the extras
Chinese takeaway for our meal, very good but later than intended as they were very busy
