The East Don
Karin and I were on a bicycle ride along the trails of the Taylor Creek and East Don River today. The Don River is a significant river in Toronto and has a long and important place in the history of the city. Unfortunately, in the 19C and 20C it was badly abused and polluted. Slowly it is being restored to its past glory. Too slowly though, in my ever so humble opinion.
We saw a few fish in the river which is encouraging but it's still rather a dirty river and often smelly.
The trails were deserted in this section. We only ran across a couple of other people and that was later as we were heading home. So this is nice. One can find quiet even in a city of this size.
