Pelicans

Decided to have a walk in Sr James’s Park today and happily the pelicans were not swimming miles away but on land so much easier to photograph. In 1996 the white pelican was found in a garden near Southend and, as it couldn’t be cared for, it was donated it to St James’s Park to join the other pelicans. They are fed every day with a variety of sea fish and eat between two and five fish a day. Apparently they can live for up to 50 years. After preening the white pelican settled down for a sleep.
