Sunny Autumn Day

We woke up this morning to find a heavy frost had coated the garden in white - our first frost of autumn 2020. It wasn't a surprise because as a rule when the sun shines in the day the nights are cold, and as we went in yesterday we could feel that nip in the air. We moved a few flowers in pots into the cellar or the house. Several summer flowers looked very forlorn this morning, but that's life in our climate.
We walked down to the lake after breakfast, enjoying a second day of sun after all the days of rain and mist. This is one of the farms on the way to the lake.
Down at the lake we were impressed by how high the water is. (See extra.) All that rain had lifted the lake until it flooded across the track, and the jetty we usually walk on was even more inaccessible than it was a few days ago.
I spent the rest of the outside day in the garden, putting some plants to bed and clearing up in general.
Then I went in for a coffee and to warm up a little, and didn't go out again - idle man!  But then autumn is a time for slowing down so maybe I'm listening to my body clock.
I played around a little with this picture, straightening the perspective using the open-source, free program Gimp. It's amazing how a free program can develop, doing things we'd have had to pay a lot of money for a few years back. Okay, it's not quite as simple and intuitive as the commercial programs, but they have been pushed to the level they are at by the competition, including the open-source movement. And we all benefit!
