Our Communicating Cosmos

“Earth’s crammed with Heaven,
and every common bush afire with God;
but only he who sees takes off his shoes.”
(Elizabeth Barrett Browning).

The title, and opening quotation of this morning’s chapter from Dallas Willard’s “Hearing God”.

And a wonderful invitation before heading outside, into a world where God is revealing Himself to us. But I am one of those people who struggles to be observant enough; and even when I am, to have enough faith.
Being quite a slow walker, it normally takes me about an hour to walk to the hospital in the morning. But it’s one of the best hours of the day - walking through the back streets of the city, to see where God is. In the Dad pushing his sleeping son in a pram. In the strong-willed weeds sprouting life through the sparse cracks in the pavement. In the grace we’ve been shown, to have the breath and the sight to see this day, and the views it brings.
