Day 289/20. Dam Waterworks

Central Winchester has for centuries been liable to flood in the wettest of winters. There are currently major works underway in the centre of the city to alleviate the risk by diverting, dredging and generally messing about with the River Itchen as it runs through the town centre.
The main image today looks like some form of radio antenna, but is, in fact, a temporary dam set up while the work is in progress. (see extra pictures for a clearer view).
There was also a group of blokes in full waterproofs (they were all blokes) receiving a briefing before they set off into the river.
