The Armenian Genocide (sometimes known as the Armenian Holocaust) was the systematic mass murder and expulsion of 1.5 million ethnic Armenians carried out in Turkey and adjoining regions by the Ottoman government between 1914 and 1923.
I have worked in Armenia several times now, helping to develop the youth work they're post communism. During one occasion, 14 years ago today, I visited the genocide memorial, with my Armenian friends where I snapped this artwork. I also took photos of some sketches (below) I had no words.
The current fighting with Ajerbaijan saddens me as innocent people on both sides are again dying. We spend more time making war than building peace. WHY?
