Medlar Germanica

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mespilus_germanica#Shakespeare
I had a pleasant rootle around in the Cathedral Herb garden this morning.
The medlars are abundant. Do see the useful wiki entry above if your at all interested. There were references in Chaucer,  Shakespeare and Cervantes. It was bawdily called " open arses " because of the shape.
I also discovered there that Iris seeds recently blipped, the root was dried and used for the relief of cramp and pain.
