Colinton Tunnel

After making a couple of deliveries in the Colinton area and also in need of fresh air we parked up for a walk by the Water of Leith.

This took us through the Colinton Tunnel,. Not only did we see the painted walls, depicting R L Stevenson's poem 'From a railway carriage' but watched the installation of a new section. Main picture is well-known Artist Chris Rutterford and Lubi setting up the first part,  the first extra is them putting the finishing touches. We stopped to admire and they were delighted that we identified the image as Jones the Steam, Idris the Dragon with our old friend Ivor the Engine, from the stories by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin (though I'm certain that Idris was actually red). Apparently these pre-painted sections clutter up their home until installation day arrives!

Second extra a striking rainbow, the red dot in the background is another photographer (many of whose shots I ruined) who is making a documentary of the images in the tunnel.

And who could omit a photo of herons on the Water of Leith - double image as extra three, lhs looking rather wet,  from the old bridge, rhs perched on a log by the weir.
