Jerra and I have been to one or two "Orchid days" at "local" garden centres; if Beetham and Dumfries can be called local.  
At one he dealt with Dendrobiums.  
(Damn it! I did NOT mean "Dendrobium's") 
He stressed not to cut back the spike after flowering as it was "food", just like a plant's bulb.  What he didn't stress was - does that mean "ever"?
Upright in the centre - Last year's flower spike.
Hanging out to both sides - The previous year's spikes, which were in flower at purchase.
All the rest cluttered around - Hopefully this year's flower spikes.

All I have to do NOW - find one I took "yesterday".
