Autumn colours- Braco castle

I had forgotten that there is a mile and a half drive from the main road entrance to Braco castle  ( see extra) when we walked up to it this afternoon. So it’s just as well my two new artificial knees were up to it.

It is many years since we last visited this 19th century designed landscape garden even though it’s only twenty-minute drive from our home. A side - effect of the pandemic and its  travel restrictions is that we are rediscovering walks in our area.

We were the only visitors on a lovely autumn afternoon and as we wandered around the grounds, wooded paths and walled garden and formal gardens it was like stepping back into the past.

The castle is not open to the public but the grounds are under Scotland Garden Scheme.
The autumn colours at the moment are amazing though hurry if you plan to visit because it closes at the end of this month for the winter. ( see extra).

You don’t have to walk  the one and a half miles as we later discovered. If you are visiting the gardens then ignore the “private” sign and park at the castle.

There is a charity box outside the front door for donations.
