Edge of Daylight

Grandma is an avid fan of Eddie Askew and his writings...so living in a home where his books lie on nearly every table top, I’ve quickly become keen on them too.

Reading “Edge of Daylight”, a book of memoirs from his time with Leprosy Mission:

“To stand in the room of a dressing clinic full of patients with stinking infected ulcers doesn’t quickly reinforce a belief in the active love of God. But the work of the nurses serving them does. It can be difficult deciding where pain comes from, but there’s no doubt about the origin of the love that tries to deal with it.”

A fitting paragraph to read on the last day of my placement in Care of the Elderly. Our country and our world is full of lonely, hurting people. But it is also full of people who actively care. Thank you Father that though we live in a broken world, it is not a hopeless world.
