Larkin Plaza

The newly day-lighted Saw Mill River now flows through Larkin Plaza in Downtown Yonkers, New York. Since the 1920's this river flowed through a culvert under a parking lot to the Hudson River. It still is a mostly hidden river in the city and disappears again just before it gets to the Yonkers train station (in center of photo) but this park is very interesting and the people that created it should be commended. Just beyond the train station you can see the New Jersey Palisades, Yonkers itself is a very hilly place for the most part but tamed compared to the Jersey side where cliffs reach over 500 ft.
