Sauvie Island

Chortle of Sandhill Cranes overhead,
hundreds of Canadian Geese easing down, and
again rising into a sculptured sky.
Ducks settling on broad marshy ponds.
A single kestrel perched on a telephone pole.
One raptor, wings set wide, floating over a broad field.
Kendall and I....marveling.
A respite from the barrage of news.
