River walk

I met up today with a former colleague from what was our sister organisation, SCRA.  Malcolm retired early last year and has a been much more active with waking daily than I have.

We last met for lunch over a year ago - see blip of 8 October and it was good to catch up and chat for a couple of hours as we walked along by the River Esk and round into the village of Inveresk.  It is a conservation village with some lovely 17th and 18th century buildings, several with magnificent gates and frontages.

We had delayed our walk for a few weeks and as luck would have it, despite the forecasts of rain, the day was a lovely one.  15oC and the sun shone for part of the morning.

The turning colours were lovely -see extra - but we did not get to see any of the local kingfishers which can be spotted by the river.  the water was a bit high and muddy.
