La vida de Annie

By Annie

Caca Pedro.

New Normality day 122.
Two preventive measures were taken today.
One was my annual vacunación para la gripe or flu jab. The clinic was rammed with coffin-dodgers, thankfully all wearing masks, waiting for the same (the vaccines only arrived yesterday), and although I had an appointment it seemed they had all been given the same time. It was fine afterwards although I now have a left arm like Popeye's. The nurse was very nice and told me "you don't look like the age that you have", which I took to be a compliment as she was smiling at the time.
The other item of note today was the enlisting of the services of a guy known locally as "Caca Pedro" (not his real name) because he's the guy who comes and pumps out the septic tanks (or "skeptic tanks" as the estate agent called them). There has not been evidence that this was necessary, but the house was built in 2003 and there's no record of it having been done recently if at all. Next door had it done recently so that prompted me to take action just in case things go poo pear-shaped in future. This is just a small part of the massive tanker attached to his tractor, so you can imagine how much sewage he can deal with. He's a cheerful old guy who's made a good living out of poo, and I'm guessing with no sense of smell as he wore no mask. Even with doors and windows closed, the smell was eye-watering, and permeated the whole road (luckily not many residents are around).
It just shows how much we took the waste-water processing systems for granted in the UK.
