Trouble at Port

440 Russian fishermen were flown over here this week on charter flights by some big NZ fishing companies to crew these fishing boats which have been sitting idle in Lyttleton port for months as our lockdown prevented the usual comings and going’s.

We are used to having the Russians in Port .
But this time they have gone straight into managed isolation in hotels here as is standard practice now with anyone arriving in NZ.
Trouble is that quite a few of this lot have tested positive!
We are all hoping that their 14 days of isolation goes without incident and we don’t have any outbreaks in the community from this situation.

The big blue fishing boats will be going no where for a while yet.
