The offending wire

Barbed wire. The work of the devil, particularly dangerous when left in loose strands. 

Gate ways are often just wired closed, rather than gated. When tractors need in, the wire is simply cut and left lying.

Another trick is to replace an old barbed wire fence and leave the old strands in the long grass at the base of fencing stand. 

Lottie is wound is healing nicely. The additional painkillers seem to be a great success.
