St Hubert’s chapel in Idsworth

This chapel stands in splendid isolation in what was the village of Idsworth, settled in about C9th. Around C12th the village was deserted quite possibly by the plague which wiped out the population. All trace of the village has now gone, buried under the plough.

The chapel remains though and has wonderful Medieval wall art which we have seen on an earlier visit. There is also a modern fresco painted to mark the millennium.

We couldn’t go in but there is a service every Sunday.

Will post another photo in extras
