There are some pleasures that you never grow out of !
To stand in the sea and let the waves splash over your wellies is high on the list .

Our last full day today as we are heading home tomorrow evening hoping  to dodge the people who are coming this weekend for a half term break. Only people from tier s 1 and 2 . People from tier 3 who had booked before the announcements of new measures have had their bookings cancelled and monies refunded . As the person interviewed on the news last night representing “visit Cornwall “ said so succinctly “we don’t want those sorts of people here . “
The rep from “Visit Devon “ was more careful in her choice of words . She said that they expected people to do the right thing and were leaving it to the clients to cancel . I understand that the guidance for tier 3 is to avoid unnecessary travel where possible but alarm bells ring when people start referring to others as “those people .”
On a more upbeat note we have had a great walk , in sunshine , to Lands End and I managed to buy my Christmas cards on route from the RNLI.
I used to get a half terms work out of a topic about the RNLI , it was founded in Lancashire after a tragedy in which 29 lifeboat volunteers lost their lives trying to rescue the crew of a ship . It’s something that I wanted the children to feel proud about because it arose from the efforts of ordinary people coming together to make a difference. It was important to me as a teacher that the children should grow to understand that we can all make a difference by our words and actions.
It’s on my mind a lot at the moment !
