Hot Lips

You really do meet some nice people when you buy stuff on ebay.

Will's always on the lookout for things that we need - and so when he saw that someone in Dumfries, who was changing his garden layout and had a load of plants for sale - he didn't hesitate to get in touch.  There were quite a few roses for sale (including a 'David Austin') which is something we lack here and some interesting small trees.  

We went to collect them yesterday - and liked the seller on sight.  The fact that he was Welsh and, like Will, an exile in a foreign land, could have had something to do with it.  But the fact was, he knew his plants and could give us valuable information on the best place to grow them and what they would be like. 

He generously threw in a few plants for free including this one.  He didn't know what it was but it didn't fit in with his new colour scheme and so he was happy to give it to us.  I had an idea what it might be and sure enough, with a bit of research it turned out to be a Salvia x jamensis.  But best of all, how great is it that it's a variety called 'Hot Lips'?! 

So appropriate - and such fun …………………!
