Sissinghurst Castle Garden

Lovely day out at Sissinghurst Castle, the former home of Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson. It's not a castle as such and the house is not open to the public as it is still part occupied by the family. The attraction is the garden which was created in the 1930s by Vita and Harold, each with their different styles. The picture is of the gazebo built in 1969 as a place to retreat and work for Ben Nicolson, who had taken on Sissinghurst from his parents. Inspired by the moon landing that year it was built to the exact same dimensions as the lunar landing module.
