The dropped stitch

Heading home in style

As the wind gathered pace through the day my stomach was not reacting well to the thought of getting on the ferry at 5pm to go home.

Under the new covid restrictions this means sitting still for 5 hours plus, with mask on. Lying down on the floor or the seating is no longer allowed. For someone like myself, who is only 'a good sailor' if able to remain in a horizontal position for the duration of the trip, this is not good news.

The dark threatening sky and the waves, (even in the harbour) made my mind up. There was nothing for it but to swap the booked reclining seat for a cabin.

It was blissful! Crisp white sheets, radio on and snoozing all the way to Orkney.
