The real value of souvenirs

We derive a great deal of pleasure from the simple souvenirs we bring home from our trips overseas. I was reminded of this today when I was replacing a few books on our bookshelves in our den. Scattered around our den are some coasters we bought on our trip to the UK last year. They were simple, inexpensive souvenirs but they take us right back to that very happy time.

The location of three of the four coasters in the photo is obvious. The fourth, is Anne Lister. We bought the coaster at Shibden Hall, her home near Halifax in the UK. We didn't know about Anne Lister until we saw the wonderful television series, starring Suranne Jones, called 'Gentleman Jack'. It was fantastic. We had watched the series not long before we left for the UK. We also watched it all again after we returned. We have now also have read much about the history of the Lister family and what a truly remarkable woman Anne was.
