Life In Wales

We are Family

After an extra hour in bed due to daylight saving, we packed up the girls’ things and set off to meet Rach at Cherwell Valley services, which is about half way between us. Scott was due to come too, but they took advantage of having ‘babysitters’ and went out Last night before ‘lockdown’ commences, and I think he was a little ‘tired’ shall we say ;-)

Our journey there was a bit slow, and we hadn’t got very far before reaching an incident on the M23 where the traffic had stopped. Luckily we stopped at a junction, so we came off and took a slight detour, rejoining the motorway at the next junction and therefore bypassing the problem.

Rach arrived about half an hour before us, but needed to get fuel and use the toilet so by the time she’d done that we weren’t far behind. We transferred the girls’ things to Rachel’s car, and then went to get some lunch. Luckily it was sunny and there were tables outside , which was good as neither Alan or I were keen to eat inside. It was nice to spend a bit of time with Rach, particularly as we now don’t know when we’ll see each other again, and I asked Alan to take a photo of the 4 of us.

Our journey home was better, with no hold ups, even on the M25 and we got back in about 2 hours. Rach messaged me shortly afterwards to say they were home too. I had lamb shanks cooking in the slow cooker so dinner was easy, and we went in the Palace for an hour before dinner which was nice - and that’s another weekend over!
