Country churchyard

Our village church is called All Saints [a fact for JDPB: All Saints is the most common dedication of English churches :-)] What you see here is 14th and 19th century, but the church has Saxon foundations. The presence of ancient yew trees, and a pre-Christian burial found nearby, implies that there may have been a pagan place of worship here before the Saxons. The village was on an important Roman cross-roads.

Drama in the farmyard this morning when one of the heifers was having trouble calving. We called the vet who performed a caesarian. Luckily for you, I faint at the sight of blood, so I haven't posted a blip of a caesarian :-) Mother and baby are doing well.
