One of the old.....

.......lime kilns in Vellow. We stopped just long enough for me to snap this through the car window. How different things were in those days. Further on we had to stop & reverse into a ‘stone depot’ (now a passing place) as B was trimming the hedge. I commented that there was a wall under the hedge. R told me that the ‘depot’ was where stones were dumped, often off the fields, & the poor of the parish would be given the job of breaking them up for the road surfaces.
