Pentlands View

With a dire forecast for Saturday we took advantage of today’s better weather to go for a walk in the Pentlands from Flotterstone. The car park was pretty much full when we arrived but we got lucky and set off as the sun came out. There have been a number of unfortunate incidents this year of cow attacks when people get between the mother and calf. Today they were nowhere near the path and the ascent was quite pleasant in the sun and brisk wind. We went up Turnhouse and then onto Carnethy Hill. As we descended towards the col before Scald Law the light was at its best and that’s when I took the blip looking towards the very wet Auchencorth Moss. We descended to Loganlea before going up Black Hill. We’d only been there once before and didn’t have great memories of the hill; it hasn’t got any better as it’s wet underfoot with views hindered by the broad convex slopes. I doubt we’ll rush back, and there was a shower as we descended towards Glencorse.

Best on black.
