Fieldfare

Winter is not too far away, in spite of the very mild weather of October.  The bird feeders are up and surplus apples are available on the ground for whatever birds want to feed on them.  I feel that this year the birds are more interested in the food that we supply than they were at this time last year.  Today we had two fieldfares picking at the apples and aggressively chasing away any blackbirds that were nearby, even though there are plenty of apples for all. The birds will probably provide quite a few blips over the next few months, particularly when the weather is poor.
