First Quarter Moon

I tried to photograph the full moon on 28th January but was very disappointed with the result. Bob20 took an amazing picture and after reading his comments I realised that the reason mine was so disappointing was because I had left Image Stabilisation on. Its a bit counter-intuitive but hey presto switching IS off gives a sharp image.

I like the moon at the quarter phases as you can see the craters at the light edge so clearly. This is the first really clear night we have had for some time so I thought I would give it a shot.

PS I originally titled this Waxing Gibbus (sic) but Jane has corrected me on two counts:

1) Its a quarter moon
2) Gibbus should be spelt Gibbous
