A Day In The Life

Sunday Soliloquy

Sitting still waiting for birds to appear, I fix my eyes towards the forest nearby. I realize how much further in I’m able to see. No longer is my gaze held captive at the edge by summer trees guarding secrets from the casual observer. Now I watch their leaves break free, effortlessly, one after another, floating, and dancing, and drifting, covering the floor below. No autumn wind required. A carpet of leaves created to muffle steps of deer passing through. Leaves to provide refuge to the forest’s other more vulnerable inhabitants. It may even sprout a leftover acorn in to an oak tree. Then my eyes focus on the nearby feeder; a titmouse has arrived • Happy November to you!
