Elbra Place.

I have not been out today, this is an image I took a couple of days ago when the weather was better than it has been today. It shows a footbridge over the River Ellen. Prior to this bridge being built, the youths of the town used to try and cross the river over a large diameter pipe which was where this bridge was erected.

Ellenborough Place is called Elbra Place by the locals.

Another snippet of information, roughly opposite the house with the street name ( Thumbnailed ), on the river, is where wood was found, tests on it revealed that it comes from the time when the Romans were in Alauna now Maryport. It is believed that it was the site of the original harbour.
From Castle Hill watchtower, which overlooks this area, the Roman army could defend the port.
