Coppice Pond

The morning was taken up with washing bird feeders; getting some washing in; sorting out the study in preparation for the carpet cleaning tomorrow and awaiting deliveries.  After lunch we went out for our daily walk and headed through the estate to see where the Parks folks have taken out a whole bunch of the rhododendrons which harbour the virus which kills the larch trees.  It has certainly opened up the vista of the golf course!  This time they have used the heavy machinery so there are no remaining stumps which is good, as many of the other cleared areas have already grown back.  It will be interesting to see if they do anything with it.  Some trees would be welcome.

We were caught out by a shower on the way home but the light through the woodland above our street as we descended was lovely.

If you didn't see Liz Carr on 'Who Do You Think You Are' last night, it's worth finding on I-Player.  She was a delight and I loved the reference she quipped to Silent Witness when one of the historians mentioned the flimsy evidence that convicted one of her ancestor's co-conspirators.  I will say no more than cold beef in newspaper!
