Balcony Reflections

It was good of spring to return and tease us with another day of sunshine and promise.
The clear skies meant an overnight ground frost carpeting the grass in a white shroud before disappearing quickly when the sun rose above the trees.

It was colder than yesterday but still no wind. The canal had a light skimming of ice in the shady parts, and the balcony reflections of the new flats there were beautifully rippled on the water surface.

Some of the crocuses are out with the daffodils fast catching up on the verges of the Meadows. The climbing hydrangea on the house wall has fat buds, but the Boston Ivy is guarding any possible life a secret. It is rather unhappy with its situation and may possibly be in terminal decline.

It's not just nature coming alive in the sun, people are out and about smiling, and sitting on park benches, faces uplifted to the sky. The outside tables in cafes are in use again and even the winos are able to congregate outside in their chosen spots and enjoy cider and dubious conversations without getting frost bite.

One day at a time, I'm not holding my breath for the rest of the week.
