Scapa Sunset

Nobody saw this coming, least of all the Met Office.  What a glorious day.  After my breakfast kipper I donned a new cravat for a walk from Waulkmill Bay along the coast to Scapa and then back along the road.

Back at HQ I repaired a valve on the oil tank , washed the windows and the car.

I am still recovering from yesterday evening when Davey called around with a pile of CDs.  He is now formally ‘in remission’.  He still has pneumonia, aggressive anaemia, poorly functioning kidneys and he has been informed that his heart will not stand up to the stem cell surgery and chemotherapy that will be needed.  He has lost three inches in height.  It’s so humbling talking with him as his conversation is so eloquent without a scintilla of self-pity.

An update to yesterday’s canine caper.  The dog we saw was not the rescued dog but his pal.  The dog which went over the cliff managed to swim to a rock and climbed onto a shelf.  He was plucked from the rock by the Stromness Lifeboat and taken round to Stromness.  Bonios all round.
