New toy

W has been complaining about his table saw for months - the blade is just not quite directly at right angles to the line of the saw - only out by a millimetre or two, but enough to make it slightly singe the wood if he is sawing hard wood.  And it is impossible to adjust it.

So with considerable encouragement from me, he has lashed out some of the money we haven't spent on holidays and long haul flights this year on a posh new saw.  It's probably bigger and heavier that really necessary, but was bought on the recommendation of some of the woodworking blogs that he follows, as it is apparently fully adjustable.   It is certainly VERY heavy - about 90kg.  The delivery chap lowered it directly onto W's little gardening trolley, which promptly deflated one of its wheels in protest, but after pumping up the tyre, we managed to get it down to the shed, and then manoeuvre it onto this base.

And he's spent a long and slightly frustrating afternoon trying to get it set up using instructions that are not always perfect - "aline (sic) the blade" being just one of the oddities.
