60 TODAY!

Today my youngest sister (at the bottom), born on the day that JFK was elected, celebrates her 60th birthday and we had arranged a surprise Zoom party for her. She's spending the weekend with friends at a hotel in northwest Texas (hence the stuffed mountain lion behind her in the hotel dining room) and we stopped her getting a birthday lie-in before breakfast by setting up the meeting for 8.30 am, her time. Happy Birthday was sung, twice, very badly, individual home-made birthday cakes were cut and eaten, tears were shed and Mum said that hers was the most uncomfortable hat she's ever worn. We hope we'll see her next summer, but who can say at the moment? We were all just a lot more celebratory and hopeful today than yesterday, though.
