Remembrance Sunday.

Today I add an old photo of my late Dad and myself taken a few years ago at the Cenotaph. It was a rare day of rain. It doesn't usually rain on Remembrance Sunday. Every year we would march as part of St Dunstan's. The 'St Dunstaners' as they were affectionately known. St Dunstan's is a wonderful charity for blind ex servicemen. My Dad was registered blind in later life, and he served 28 years in the Royal Air Force, and through the Second World War. Because I am also ex service I was able to escort him as his 'guide'. It was always a very special day, although pretty stressful getting there so early in the morning, wether we went by car or by train!

Always incredibly emotional, with crowds up to 10 deep, applauding us as we made our way back to Horseguards, I had to hold back the tears as I marched! I think I've seen most of the senior Royals taking the salute. We always marvelled at the precision - Every year we would find ourselves on the same drain cover as the service went on. After the parade we'd have a wonderful meal in a hotel, all laid on by St Dunstain's, so much camaraderie amongst the ex servicemen. Very special memories.

Going back to my time in the RAF, I marched in the parade in uniform. Every year we would spend a whole week before rehearsing at RAF Uxbridge. We were always told to observe the Veterans, and the medals they wore, as each year there would be fewer and fewer. I'm very proud of having been part of this service for so many years.

On a lighter note, later in the day we had a 'silly' family Disco for Emmeline who's self isolating and missing seeing her friends, and really feeling not seeing her cousins, and I know her Mummy is missing seeing us, her family. Extras .... Jodie as Pam Anderson in Baywatch. I have no idea what she shoved up her T shirt!
