Remembering

Really enjoyed the SCBC livestream last night, thinking about Remembrance Sunday. It’s something I’ve seen less of since starting uni - Queen’s banned the selling of poppies a few years back. Which I find deeply saddening - though I understand that there must be hurt and confusion about what the symbolism gradually came to represent, far more than I’m aware of.
Still, I’m really glad that courage and sacrifice are remembered. One patient I spoke to was telling me about his time in the Navy - it’s wonderful to hear stories that help you see someone for more than what meets the eye. I’m sure he would far rather be known for his service and bravery, than for being the man in bay 9 with covid pneumonia.
