Gardening with an Axe

There is a lesson here for all budding gardeners.
Do not plant trees labelled as small  trees or shrubs.
Do not plant them in a corner and let them grow unchecked.
Do not ignore them and think they look OK.
Do not think they can be removed easily when you get fed up with them.
This was a Black Elder, Sambuscus niga, beautiful blooms but unchecked can grow to 7 metres in height.
It has taken me all day to remove it and its roots, chop up the trunk and branches, I have a pile of logs and  6 bags of finely cut branches to dispose of plus a huge stump.
For the older UK residents who remember the Frank Spencer TV series where he dismantled a hotel bedroom, the phrase he used for all the devastation came to mind as I knocked on the window and told Mrs J,
"Ooh Betty, it can go out with the other stuff in the morning!"
