A light in the darkness

I know it’s Remembrance Day in the UK and many other countries, not in The Netherlands though, where we commemorate the war sacrifices and deaths on May 4th. For the daily Dutch photo assignment we had to capture something festive. In many parts of The Netherlands normally children would walk through the neighbourhood once it’s dark with self-made lanterns singing and receiving some candy to celebrate St Maarten/St Martin. In other more Southern parts of The Netherlands 11/11 is the day the serious preparations and some festivities for the next Carnival period will commence. None of that is possible  right now in our semi lockdown. From tonight the 5 day festivities for Diwali ( the festival of light) start for Hindus all over the world. To  combine  all of this I made an image of a Diwali oil lamp lit up by festive light to commemorate those who gave their life for our freedom and to celebrate the victory of light over darkness.

Remember that tomorrow's optional Abstract Thursday theme is ‘shapes’ and its tag will be AT281.

Thanks very much for the kind comments, stars and even hearts for the tiny critters snd the tiny boy :-)
