Advie War Memorial

This is the new Advie War Memorial, erected on a new site by the public hall in 2008 it is a reproduction of the original which stood in a vulnerable position on the main road and was damaged by a lorry in 2006. The base and shaft of the original are in the Kirkyard but the top is on the burgh Regality Cross in Grantown.
On a peaceful autumn morning it was hard to imagine the tragedies of either war or Covid affecting this tranquil Highland community.

The extra shows a badly weather fragment of a Pictish symbol stone set into Advie Kirk wall. A crescent, V-tod and mirror are faintly discernable.
