Our sun

We take the sun for granted but it really is amazing.

Yesterday it was a changing plethora of colours but today, sitting at Marwick Bay in Orkney, it just seemed to slowly sink into the sea.

It's amazing to think that people from 5000 years ago looked out at this setting sun and, despite all our fount of knowledge, it still surprises and awes us.

It's the same sun we all see but we all see it differently. It's been giving us two days of unbroken warmth and sunshine and I wonder of the people of Skara Brae, Gurness or the Ness of Brodgar would have looked upon it as an omen of a good summer to come?

Or just a couple of days enjoyable sunshine while winter still had it's tail to swish?

Or is all this philosiphising simply because I've been affected by the sun?
