[...] when I photographed for myself, I photographed for myself. When I say for myself, it was not just for personal gratification alone, it was really a form of seeking answers to things.

Philosophical answers?
Inevitably philosophical questions or answers arose. I believe that man is not the centre of things. He's not quite the important person people think he is in spite of his mental capacities. I believe he's a part of nature, distinctive and special in his own way, as are all forms of life.
